M’LANG, COTABATO CITY – During the 4th National Rice Technology Forum last March 8, 2017, Secretary Emmanuel F. Piñol, with Undersecretary for Operations Ariel T. Cayanan, Assistant Secretary for Field Operations Federico E. Laciste, Jr. and National Program Coordinator Engr. Christopher V. Morales, awarded the Php 3,000,000 project grant for the Province of Davao del Sur as the Provincial Category winner of the 2016 NOAAA.

The project of Davao del Sur consists of financial assistance to organic farmers’ associations, NGOs, POs, IPs as well as cooperatives; the improvement/upgrading of the existing Trichoderma Laboratory for the production of organic fertilizers; construction/renovation of Provincial Nursery Office with Warehouse; production and utilization of Compost Fungus Activator (Trichoderma harzianum) and other Organic Agriculture Programs; establishment of techno-demo projects on Organic Agriculture Program at the Provincial Nursery, Bansalan, Davao del Sur.

The National Color-Coded Agriculture Map (NACCAG) (, developed by the Adaptation and Mitigation Initiative in Agriculture (AMIA), was also launched and was led by the Secretary himself. The NACCAG is now accessible on the internet, containing the crops that may be planted in a certain area down to the barangay level, water availability and climate conditions in an area.
