Organic Pest Management Approaches in Producing Organic Vegetables in Region 10    DA-NOMIARC

A developed pest management strategies that were verified in the farmer's field under their management specific for organic vegetables: pole, beans, cabbage, carrots, eggplant, cucumber, tomato and sweet pepper production in Region 10 in managing the pest problem, determine its economics and packaging technology for dissemination.


Pest management technology includes the integration of different methods of control (biofumigation, raising of healthy seedlings & good land preparation, plastic mulch, diversified cropping, alternate planting of different types of vegetables, planting of flowering plants, application of biopesticides & biofertilizers, biocontrol agents (Trichogramma chilonis, lacewings, and lady beetle), physical control through bagging of fruits (eggplant & cucumber), trimming of damage fruits (eggplant) pods (string beans) and use of screen for tomato & Sweet pepper

Development and Validation of Organic-based Production and Pest Management of selected Vegetables   PARRFI

Validated organic fertilization and pest management inputs used by practitioners and advocates are showed in NGO demo farm in Malvar, Batangas. The organic fertilizer include FPA approved fertilizer and foliar spray while the pest management inputs includes botanicals and natural enemies like Trichogramma and earwig and a cultural management practice of bagging to protect the ampalaya fruit  

Technology Demonstration on Integrated Pest Management in Organic Eggplant Production with Emphasis on the Use of Biological Control Agents, Compost Tea, Cultural and other Non-chemical Methods   UPLBFI

Maximize the use of biocontrol agents, compost tea, cultural and other non-chemical approaches in pest management in organic eggplant production

Development of Pest Management Strategies for Organic Fruit Production in the the Coldillera (New Title: Evaluation of Pest Management  Strategies for Organic Strawberry and Citrus Production in the Coldillera)  BPI - BNCRDC  Biocon agents like Metarrhizium and Beauvaria effectively control snou tbeetle population. Soil application before transplanting and follow-up drenching 1 month after transplanting effects controls the immature stage or white grubs. à Plants like hot pepper and ginger, mineral oil and wood vinegar effectively reduce population of white grubs and mites attacking the strawberry and citrus. Early application results to lower damage and higher yield (strawberry).

Potential of Compost Tea for Managing Fungal and Bacterial Disease in Four Selected Vegetables

 UPLBFI Using local compost materials, compost tea can be brewed 24 - 48 hours by adding water to the compost and applied either as soil drench or spraying just like conventional fungicides. It is effective against soil-borne diseases
Development of Package of Chemical Free Production Technologies using Animal Manures with Biofertilizer cum Biopesticide Properties for Tomato and Garlic  Mariano Marcos State University  The product is very easy to prepare and the source of material abounds among farmers. Goat and chicken manures are steeped in water separately for at least 15 days, filtered and the filtrate taken as the manure teas. Soil drenching is the method of application. Its application already precludes irrigation because the products are applied as water-soluble materials. 
Promotion of the Package of Technology for Biocotrol of Major Disease of High Value Crops in Benguet and CAR UPLB   Promotion and utilization of Trichoderma Microbial Inoculant (TMI) on different semi-temperate vegetables, legumes, crucifers, leafy vegetables, root crops/tubers, fruit, plantation crop and cutflowers.
