ATI, being on the edge in agricultural technology and knowledge management persistently seeks to empower the farmers and fisherfolks for them to become globally competitive thereby bringing on a more proactive and responsive extension services.

Capacity building through education and training mirrors the core intent of the Institute in contributing agricultural development especially in rural areas. To educate and train the marginalized individuals embodies the priorities of the Institute. Hence, capacity building is persistently provided by ATI so as to contribute in the agricultural development. This 2016, a total of 182 trainings were conducted focusing on the following: Training in support to Organic Agriculture Internal Control System, Training on Organic Production Technologies, Training on Organic Market Development and value Chain Management and Preparatory Course on Organic Agriculture NCII.

Learning sites have been established on several regions nationwide. This is a venue wherein differentiated and integrated farming systems are displayed for an actual learning experience of the participants. As for this year, 24 were maintained.

Characterized as “Sanayan ng Pagsasaka at Adhikaing Agrikultura”, the School for the Practical Agriculture (SPA) focuses on the underdeveloped areas and takes full advantage of its assets. Farmers are set to become instructors drawing on their respective farms as the classroom or school for hands-on training. The situation does not only perk up farmers’ status but it also builds up private and public partnership.

Partnership with other agencies and organization.

In its quest for excellence, ATI has a program towards National Certification II (NCII) for Organic Agriculture Production. This certification is set by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). 34 batches of NC2 were conducted on national and regional level.

Joint efforts with TESDA, the ATI improves the system implementation of agricultural skills development programs though National Competency (NCII) on Organic Agriculture. The ATI is offering trainings toward NCII certification.

ATI- SOAP

The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) and the Spread Organic Agriculture in the Philippines (SOAP), along with other DA agencies have formed linkages in the promotion of Organic Agriculture through different activities. SOAP has an expanding network of organic agriculture practitioners, enthusiast, specialists and supporters that seek opportunities to enhance their knowledge and skills as well as share their experiences and learning. ATI, as the focal agency for extension, implements the organic agriculture extension program and provides the necessary support in collaborating activities with SOAP. Free Seminar on Organic Agriculture is schedule every third Friday of the month.
