The Organic Agriculture Program (OAP) is one of the banner program that continues its implementation in order to achieve goals and priorities thus improving quality of life and farmer’s income, increased market presence of organic products in both local and international market and increased contributions of organic products to organic agricultural output.
For CY-2017, the program has a total budget of P 20,045,000.00 with a major final output (MFOs) of Production Support Services (PSS) with an allocation of P 5,879,000, Marketing Development Services (MDS) of P 6,120,000.00, Extension Support, Education and Training Services (ESETS) of P 5,441,000.00 and Provision of Agricultural Equipment & Facilities (PAEF) with a budget of P 2,487,000.00. As of December 20, 2017 the program obligated P17,147,000.00 (86%) and disbursed P9,878,000.00 (58%) from its annual budget.
Production Support Services (PSS). Its intervention include 10,450 kgs assorted seeds of Organic Rice, Legumes and Vegetable Seeds, 275 bottles of soil ameliorants, 220 heads of animals (livestock & poultry), and 10 units of Mower were delivered to various beneficiaries and the 4 units Incubator was delivered to four (4) experimental stations of DA-RFO 12. There were four (4) units Organic fertilizer Production facilities maintained in the stations, 3 units of screenhouses for white potato established at Tupi RES, Brgy. Miasong and Brgy. Kablon of Tupi South Cotabato and In-vivo for banana established in Balindog-RES.
Market Development Services (MDS). There were five (5) market related events funded which include; the Yamang Cotabato, Kalivungan, Kalimudan, T’nalak and Munato Festival. Also participated five (5) commodity congresses and one (1) International Event – OMEK/ Natural and Organic Foods at Hungary. There were 18 market-related events conducted which include Strengthening of SME’s, Product Enhancement for four (4) provinces, and the conduct of 4th SOCCSKSARGEN Organic Agriculture Congress last October 2-3, 2017 at JC Complex, Kidapawan City with 250 delegates coming from different provinces in Region 12. Furthermore, the conduct of market matching during trade fairs, the Investment Forum on Poultry conducted last December 8-9, 2017 at Koronadal City with participation of Poultry Stakeholders and installation of two (2) Subsidy Stall Rental in Koronadal City and General Santos City for the promotion of organic products.
Extension Support, Education and Training Services (ESETS). The livestock and poultry production training was successfully conducted at Tupi-RES last May 12 & May 18, 2017 and participated by Organic practitioners, as well as Farmers Field School at Kidapawan City and a series of quarterly meetings with Provincial/Municipal/City Focal Persons. The National Organic Agriculture Congress (NOAC) was held at Limketkai Atrium, Cagayan de Oro City last October 23 – 27, 2017 and was participated by 80 participants composed of organic farmer practitioners, LGUs and RFOs. Furthermore, there were 2 entries submitted and awarded for ROAAA for Outstanding Agricultural Extension Worker (AEW) Ms. Gemma Bingco and Outstanding Small Farming Family by Mr. & Mrs. Edwin Fetalino during 4th ROAC together with the ten (10) 3rd party certified farms and inputs. Extended and assisted the 2nd batch of certification assistance for potential applicants and pre-assessment activities undertaken. Techno demo was established in Maitum, Sarangani Province with an intervention of Vermi facility and Botanical Concoction Facility and organic Goat Production designed for Banga, South Cotabato.
Agricultural and Fishery Machinery, Equipment and Facilities Support Services (AFMEFS). Five (5) Production related Machineries and Equipment such as four (4) units Incubator were distributed to LGU Tupi, Arakan, Antipas and Kiamba, one (1) unit Shredder Machine received by LGU Pigcawayan, North Cotabato. The four (4) units Organic Fertilizer Production Facilities were established at LGU Maitum, LGU Isulan, Tulunan Fresh Fruit Association and Caloocan Organic Farmers Association, and one (1) unit Display Center established at LGU Tupi, South Cotabato.
