DA-OAP Region IX has worked enthusiastically to cater the needs of organic farmers and practitioners in the entire region. Under production support services (PSS), assorted vegetables seeds, ginger, cacao seedlings, registered rice seeds, OPV Corn seeds, vermicast, bio-control agents like earwigs, metarhizium, trichocards and african night crawlers were distributed to different qualified organic practitioners. Upgraded Carabao and goat were also distributed.

In support to DA Facilities, OA program has established Greenhouse, perimeter fence, feed mixing facilities, Adlay Seed Bodega and concreting of Ceylon Tea. Rehabilitation and enhancement of Perimeter fence for Free Range Native Chicken and Organic Feed Mill at ZAMPIARC, R D and E Center, Bio-Control Pesticides Laboratory and Water System Project at Mahayag Livestock Breeding Center.

Distributed different post-harvest facilities like hammer mill, incubator, thresher, hand tractor with trailer, hand tractor/multi-cultivator, coffee roaster, thresher with trailer and some production machineries and equipment like small scale composting facilities, bakery equipment, shredder machine, lawn mower, bio digester, piglets stainless feeder, wheel barrow, vacuum pack sealer, and vermi tea brewer.

Other infrastructure facilities were established in support to qualified Organic practitioners and Local Government Units (LGU’s) like three Greenhouses located at the municipalities of Manukan, Zamboanga del Norte, Titay,Zamboanga Sibugay, and Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga del Sur with the collaboration of their respective LGU’s, vermicomposting facility were established at Titay, ZSP and Sirawai, ZDN as support to their production of vermicast and vermicompost; Organic Fertilizer Facility were also established at Siayan, Zamboanga del Norte; Organic Vegetable Display and Processing Center at Molave, Zamboanga del Sur were also established to help promote market of their organic products. Also, the Establishment of Adlai Seed Bank Storage at Dapitan City helps increase the shelf life of adlai seeds. The OAP continued to support organic practitioners through the Enhancement of Cassava Processing Plant located at Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte.

Market related activities were conducted to promote and encourage organic practitioners market their produce. Attendance to different trade fairs, congresses, expositions and market linkages were done in order to heighten the spirit of organic farmers in their chosen endeavor. Around 150 participants joined the Regional Organic Agriculture Congress which was conducted last September 27-28, 2017 to gather together regional organic agriculture advocates and showcase their products per municipality and province. During the said event, farm tours were also done in order to increase organic farmer’s enthusiast in organic farming. Crafting of Organic Agriculture resolutions were also made in order to hear their clamor in helping the program successful.

Various extension activities were conducted to educate and encourage our valued farmers such as radio plugging, Information Caravan and dissemination of different IEC materials (organic vegetables, organikong foliar na abono, organic free range chicken, organic swine production) which equipped our farmers on organic farming techniques.
